Before You Speak
Introductory Voice Workshop
If you have not worked with me before and would llike to gain an insight into my teaching and coaching practice, this introductory workshop is the place to start.
Everything that determines how you land in a room is already happening before the first word. The breath that shortens, the shoulders that rise and the jaw that sets. By the time you open your mouth, your body has made most of the decisions for you.
What we'll do
We'll work as a group through a sequence of practical exercises in body, breath, voice and presence. You'll feel the difference between a voice that's supported and one that isn't. You'll find where you hold tension, and what happens to your sound when you let it go.
Then we'll put it to work. You'll speak first with a poem, then with something of your own.
The poem comes first for a reason. Nothing is riding on it, so you can pay attention to what your body is doing rather than to how you're being judged. Once that's landed, we move to your own material.
